LDS-specific Programs

Mormon Documentation Project

The goal of the Mormon Documentation Project is to create tools that make studying the scriptures and the Gospel easier. That includes putting a lot of stuff out there in databases so that it can be properly organized, categorized, and accessed.

One project goal is to produce export files of the standard works for the most popular databases in use: mysql, postgresql, firebird, sqlite, oracle and access.

lds-get

lds-get is a simple utility for downloading the scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price), church magazines, and other resources from the church's website. This content can then be viewed offline in a web browser or on a Palm Pilot (or any other PalmOS device).

Fortune Bible

Fortune Bible is a project provides the KJV Bible in Unix fortune file format. Each *fortune* is a single verse.

BibleTime

BibleTime is a Bible search/bible study software for KDE Desktop. BibleTime seems to require linux. BibleTime requires Sword API

Everything needed for BibleTime and/or for GnomeSword are often found in Linux distributions and in the repositories that the distros provide. It usually is way more easy to use software that the distros themselves provide.

GnomeSword

Gnomesword is a Bible search/bible study software for Gnome Desktop. Gnomesword works with Linux and Unix. Gnomesword requires Sword API

The Scriptures, Internet Edition

The Scriptures, Internet Edition, an official website of the LDS Church includes the Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, Pearl of Great Price, and various study helps. The Church has released a naming standard with examples for third party APIs to directly reference this text.

LDS General Conference Index

This index links from scriptures to the general conference talks that cite those scriptures. A BYU project.

LDS Church Gospel Library

Gospel Library, another LDS Church website, provides "publications currently available include curriculum materials and Church magazines in English from January 1971."

Scripture A Day

Scripture a Day will email you your scriptures daily.

Stay up on your daily scripture study by reading your email. Select which standard work, where you want to start and how many chapters or verses you want each day and Scripture a Day will do the rest.
